New report from WHO: ''Optimizing health workers roles for maternal and newborn health'' 

This report is to provide the broad operational and cost considerations in mobilizing support for a large increase in public sector CHW cadres across Africa. It presents a synthesis of support for CHW subsystem scaling and highlights important considerations for the international community and national governments to take into account as they embark on a path to providing basic health care services to the women, children, and communities that need it most.

19-23 November Sixty-second Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa

The sixty-second session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa took place from 19 to 23 November 2012 in the Republic of Angola. The Regional Committee, comprising health ministers from 46 Member States, is the Governing Body of WHO in the African Region. Its purpose is to set policy and approve the budget and programme of the work of WHO in the Region. A set of resolutions were decided upon such as aRoad Map for scaling up the HRH 2012-2025, Health Promotion - Strategy for the African Region, The African Public Health Emergency Fund , Health and Human Rights and HIV/AIDS - Strategy for the African Region.
