DPG Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change
The Environmental Management Act (EMA) of 2004 is a framework Act that governs all current legislation related to the environment, to climate change and to natural resources management. EMA builds on the policy vision of a consistent and coherent environmental management framework. The Vice-President's Office (VPO) is the core co-ordination body for the implementation of EMA in Tanzania. Natural resources management is governed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT) and all climate change related policy is again co-ordinated by the VPO.
Development Partners (DPs) work closely with the VPO and with MNRT in Tanzania and have a long standing involvement on environment and natural resources sector including programme or project investments, technical assistance and direct budget support. The development partner group for environment (DPG-E) has developed a structure of three technical subgroups addressing (i) environment; (ii) natural resources; and (iii) climate change.
